Tuesday, my wife and I drove from Joliet, IL to meet my son and his wife from Essexville, Mi AND WERE treated to some awesome beer and pizzas . we sat outside as we had brought our dogs with. the beer flights were wonderful and the pizza couldn't have been better. very friendly people who owned and ran this wonderful establishment. Great people. Great food. Great beers. Live music. A Place to hang out , just outside the facility, if necessary. Was attending a wedding/reception upstairs. Handmap Brewing was a very comfortable to social in between festivities.
Here is one of the hidden gems in Battle Creek. If you are looking for a drinkable brew, this is your place. The inside of the brewery is awesome. It is in a lower level of the building so it has stone walls and a bar fit the theme. The brewery does have live music that they post in their Facebook page. The service has that home town feel that you are welcome there. The pizza. What I can say about the pizza is spectacular!! I highly recommend you try Handmap Brewery.
I really loved this place! The bartenders were so friendly and welcoming. All the locals were kind and helpful. The area itself is spectacular. The outside patio is huge and shaded. The view is great. Everything in this area is walking distance and parking was free!! The inside of the bar is quite large and they have a great variety of beers to choose from. I loved everything about it!!
When you pull up your handmap it will be hard to forget where to point. This might be my new home. Pinky no longer. Well. No. But this sure feels the same. Welcoming. Relaxing. You'd think now living in Chicago we are all about deep dish. That's for visitors. This sure stands right up and passes by to what us living in the city enjoy.It's all about the crust. Well done. What a Heff too!! A short cut exists from the station, worth missing your departure anyways.
What a great place full of character, energy and welcoming faces. The beer selection was vast and had a little something for everyone. Some of the tables have the ring and hook game to challenge your friends while drinking beer. The outside patio was big and looked like it would be great on our next visit. Didn't try and food this round either.
Great beer and now pizza also! Handmap has a variety of beers from sours to IPAs to stouts, and also seltzers and wine. Never had a bad beer here, but I am partial to their sours. They have snacks/apps and now pizza, which is delicious. They have had some creative pizzas including hot honey pepperoni, and also some creative beers over the years! Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. They also have great merchandise and cans of beer (or to go cups for walking downtown)! Probably my favorite place in the city!
Hefeweizen on tap !!! Excellent beer. Great pizza. Chill atmosphere. Live music every Thursday. Of course very attentive and awesome wait staff.
Cool atmosphere, and very friendly service. I had a color the creek, which has a delicious natural cherry flavor. We played cards against humanity with another couple at the bar, which was really fun! We'll definitely go back if we're in the area.
Rolling through Battle Creek, I thought I would stop at one of the local breweries and check out the scene. This spot opened during the pandemic and based on the hanging mugs of its Mug Club members has done an excellent job growing during these difficult times. Located in a building that has lofts above it [I think?], you walk in through a pretty nondescript door and it opens to a wonderful space. There is a small stage [no performance today] and then a long walkway with a bar to match. I tasted a few of the beers before settling on the Ruori [pronounced Roary] Red. Absolutely delicious. One interesting side note is that they don't accept cash here, card only. That was odd to me as I try to use cash at restaurants and bars so they don't get charged and CC fees and tips aren't lost for the staff. Overall, very nice brewery with good beers. Great service.
